PONTI (2018)
by Sharlene Teo

The Metrograph Book Club's March selection. Circling around three women inhabiting a “hot, horrible earth,” Ponti tells the tale of Szu, dominated by her “expertly cruel” mother Amisa, a B-list actress from a trilogy of horror films about the Ponti, or Pontianak - a beautiful cannibal from Malay mythology - and newcomer Circe who befriends the self-proclaimed friendless Szu and becomes inextricably embroiled in her life.
