An auteur study of director Rouben Mamoulian, known for his use of synthetic sound in 1931's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the first three-colour Technicolor film Becky Sharp, and his musicals - most notably, Silk Stockings. Tom Milne explores Mamoulian's filmography and his greatest works.
